I never thought one jump could be so important to me. That one jump would erase the shittiest season of my life.

Never mind that you scratched the two previous jumps this meet. Never mind that you scratched 13 out of the 21 jumps this season. Never mind that 6 out of 21 jumps this season were shorter then your freshman average because you cant get on the fucking board. It doesn't matter that out of 23 jumps this year 2 were wear they should be.

This last jump erases it all. Why? Because its sectionals, and you just nailed the board. Its your senior year, at fucking sectionals, and that was a 15' jump-what you set as your goal at 4 years ago. For once in your wretched season, you didn't scratch, nor were you 3 feet behind the board. Not to mention, with this jump, you just smashed through the seeding into the finals.


And i felt the cold dampness of the sand in my hand as that miserable women announced my scratch. And without hesitation the pit was raked smooth, and I was done forever.
